What a Professional Coach Can Do for You: Benefits and Insights

Ann hill Coaching for professional women

The coach as a key

Sometimes we just get stuck in our personal or professional lives. (often being stuck in our personal lives will impact our professional lives too)  Do you have big goals and secret ambitions but can’t find a clear path to achieving them? This is where a professional coach is invaluable . We offer  guidance, accountability, challenge and get to the bottom of what is holding you back.  We provide a key to unlock your full potential. That key unlocks the ability to grow, thrive, and achieve success.

1. clarify your goals

A professional coach helps you to specifically clarify your goals. Most importantly they’ll help you to truly understand why that’s important to you.  Whether you’re unsure about your next career move or want to improve your work-life balance, a coach works with you to identify your true objectives.

By asking the right questions, they help you cut through the noise and focus on what truly matters.

Once you have a clear vision, you’ll find it easier to take action and make decisions with confidence.

2. Guide you to overcome your obstacles

A life changing realisation for me was that I didn’t need to solve every problem I saw. In fact focusing on everything else except what was important was doing a great job of exhausting me and burning me out” It was the most elaborate procrastination technique – driven by fear of criticism!

I know that what is most likely to be getting in a client’s way are the stories they believe about themselves, limiting beliefs , fear of judgement and a lack of confidence.  Those phrases I’m too … People from my background don’t… I can’t do this … limit so much potential.  A great coach will enable you to remove those particular obstacles.

"not every obstacle needs to be overcome, just the ones in your way"

3. provide accountability

Accountability is one of the most powerful benefits of working with a coach. It’s so easy to lose focus when no one checks in on your progress. Its also so easy to quit when life gets difficult. A coach won’t let that happen.  A coach will celebrate every achievement with you, they will also see every setback as an opportunity for personal development.  Setbacks are often habits to be broken.  When someone holds you accountable, you’re more likely to follow through on the commitments you make to yourself. This is where the magic of coaching really happens!

4. give objective feedback

A professional coach offers unbiased, objective feedback.  This can result in some big big emotions . A coach will know that the emotions are a signal to what is really going on,  they will help you see that. They also know they are the door to the obstacles holding you back.  Friends and family may want to support you, but they often provide advice based on their own experiences and biases.  Sometimes a family member or friend thriving and reaching their goals may not actually be welcome. A coach remains neutral and show you your blind spots. They’ll help you come up with way to overcome them.  Another crucial step to truly thriving

5. give you skills to self coach

A coach won’t be with you at all times. Think about it – Olympic coaches don’t run the races with their athletes. Career coaches don’t do the job for the people they are coaching. What we do as coaches is give you skills, so that when you need them, you can call on them. A coaching session is chance to gain and practice skills – real life is where they make a difference.  A great coach will absolutely revel in you succeeding on your own.

They will also help you recognise when additional coaching would be really beneficial.  To go back to the sports analogy – when an athlete has mastered the start of the race, they really benefit from learning how to finish well!

6. the "so what"

What could you do if you

  • knew exactly what you want to achieve?
  • had the skills to overcome any obstacles in your way?
  • had a cheerleader holding you accountable?
  • had access to unbiased and objective support
  • had the skills to coach yourself in real life situations?

You’d be unstoppable, you’d thrive and achieve.

For you that may self belief to have the job or career you want. It might be  confidence to have great relationships. Perhaps its the courage to go on one big adventure .

You decide .

“Great work is done by people who are not afraid to be great.”

Fernando Flores
