recognise the nudge
In life, there often comes a moment when we feel a subtle nudge (or sometimes a very loud shout!) that it’s time for a change.
It might be in hope – a new career , better relationship or to pursue a long held dream. It come fear – the dread of the empty nest and being left behind.
Many women I work with, especially in their 40s and 50s, feel a powerful pull to start fresh but wonder –
“Who am I at this stage, and what do I truly want?”
Embracing a new beginning is more than just making changes; it’s about reconnecting with your core identity. It takes courage , it takes vulnerability and every step is worth it!
"The only impossible journey is the one you never begin."

recognise you are more than the roles
Over the years, we find ourselves defined by roles – a professional, a parent, a child, a partner, a caregiver.
While these are meaningful, they don’t cover everything that makes us who we are.
A new beginning offers the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your true identity, the one that’s independent of those roles.
Consider these questions as you reflect on your core self:
- Who am I when I’m not fulfilling my roles at work or at home?
- What passions or hobbies make me feel truly myself?
- Are there qualities or dreams I had in my younger years that I miss and want to bring back into my life?
Rediscovering these parts of yourself is both liberating and empowering. It opens the door to living more authentically and helps ensure that the next chapter is aligned with who you genuinely are.
Embracing Vulnerability and Self-Trust
New beginnings are often accompanied by fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability. Yet, it’s through vulnerability that we build resilience and self-trust.
Trusting ourselves to take the first step, even when we’re not entirely sure of the outcome, is a profound act of self-love.
Reflect on these questions to strengthen your self-trust:
- If fear wasn’t holding me back, what’s one thing I would do differently?
- How can I create a supportive environment for myself as I take these first steps?
- What’s one small, achievable goal that moves me closer to the life I want?
Building self-trust involves taking small, courageous actions and celebrating every success, regardless of size. Every tiny step forward reinforces your ability to trust yourself.
Living in Alignment with Your Core Values
As we age, our values often come into a much sharper focus. Living in alignment with your values brings a sense of peace and fulfilment. Now is the time to examine these values closely and make intentional choices that reflect them.
Ask yourself:
- What are my core values, and do my daily actions align with them?
- Are there any areas of my life where I feel a disconnect between my values and my choices?
- How can I live my values in this new chapter of my life?
When your actions reflect your values, you experience a sense of harmony and fulfillment that is truly transformative.
Embrace the Experience
New beginnings are a chance to reconnect with yourself and reimagine what’s possible. By embracing change, rediscovering your identity, and aligning with your values, you open the door to a life that feels more authentic and satisfying. This process isn’t about reinventing yourself from scratch; it’s about integrating all of who you are into the person you are becoming.
As you explore what this new chapter holds, remember to be patient and kind with yourself. Rediscovering your true self is an incredible journey, and every single small step counts.
